UPSC Notification for Civil Services Prelims Exam (IAS) 2013

After much delay, Union Public Service Commission had published the Notification for the Civil Services Preliminary Exam, 2013. The Notification was earlier, scheduled to be out in the First week of feb, but it got delayed due to issues with finalizing the new Civil Service Main paters change and finally made public on 5th March, 2013. This year, Union Public Service Commission is going to conduct the Civil Services Preliminary Exam on 26th May, while the MAIN Examination is likely to be held by the year end i.e in October/November, 2013. The Online Registration had already started and the last Date for Submitting the Online Application is April 4th, 2013.

Essay – 200 Marks English – 100 marks 
General Studies Paper I, II, III and IV 
Marks carried by General Studies was 4*250=1000 
Optional A Paper I - 250 Marks, Paper II - 250 Marks 
Optional B (No more in existence)

New topics added to the syllabus


New topics added to the syllabus include for Mains
• In Paper I Section 2 - English PrĂ©cis of Matriculation or 10th standard level had been added 
• In Paper II General Studies – I part the History and Geography of the World and Society had been added 
• In Paper IV General Studies – III Disaster Management had been added along with Technology, Economic Development, Bio-diversity, Environment and Security 
• In Paper-V General Studies –IV Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude has been added

UPSC Civil Services Exam 2013 : Vacancy Details


Number of Vacancies: The Total Number of vacancies advertised for various Services is approximately 1000. However, the final number can be different in due course of time. Applicants who are declared successful in the Civil Services Exam, 2013 (After the MAINS and Personality Test), will have a chance to get a Job in one of the 24 Prestigious Services in India including IAS, IPS, IFC and Other Group 'A' & Group 'B' Services. 

Eligibility for UPSC Civil Serives Exam 2013

Applicants willing to apply and appear in one of the most Prestigious Exam, must have to full fill the below mentioned Eligibility conditions. 

1) Age Limit: Applicants must be over 18 year and not more than 30 years of Age (As on 01-08-2013). However, age Relaxations are there for Reserved Category Candidates. 
2) Educational Qualifications: The Minimum requirement is Graduation, therefore, You must have completed Degree in any discipline from a recognised University of India 
3) Physical Requirement: Applicants must be physically fit for the services and must meet the Physical Standards as mentioned in the Notification. 
4) No of Attempts: There is a restriction on number of times, you appear for Civil Services Exam.Here is the Category-wise break-up of attempts that a candidate can undertake For General Category: Four For OBC: Seven For Physically Handicapped: Seven SC/ST: No Limit

How to Apply ?


Candidates are required to apply Online by using the website http:// www.upsconline.nic.in Detailed instructions for fillingup online applications are available on the above- mentioned website. Brief Instructions for filling up the "Online Application Form" given in Appendix-II of the notification pdf. Application Fee: The Cost of Application is Only Rs 200.Applicants can deposit the fee either through Offline Mode OR Online Mode In Offline Mode, you have pay the Fees through the System Generated Challan form in any SBI Bank Branch in India In Online Mode, you can pay the Fees through the Internet Bank Facility/Credit Cards/Debit Cards of SBI Or its 5 Associate Banks. Note: Women Candidates and candidates belonging to reserved contains (SC/ST/PH) are exempted from paying the fees Online Application: Only Online Application is accepted by UPSC, therefore, applicants will have to apply Online at their Official Website www.upsconline.nic.in from 5th March 2013 to 4th April, 2013. Before proceeding for Online Application, applicants must have the ccanned copy of their Photograph and Signature. Applicants will have to carefully fill the Online Application form, by following the On-Screen Instructions. After submitting the form, the system will generate an Application form, that must be kept for further references.
