About Recruitment for the post of Programme Executive and Transmission Executive in Prasar Bharati


PB wishes to recruit young and skilled personnel for manning the posts of Programme Executive,Transmission Executive and Production Assistant in offices spread all over the country. Applications are invited from Indian Nationals who fulfill the prescribed qualifications and age etc. for these posts. UNHRC adopted resolution on human rights violation in Sri Lanka


The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) adopted a U.S.-sponsored resolution on human rights violation in Sri Lanka, with 25 countries including India voting in favour of the document in the 47-nation strong body. While 13 countries including Pakistan voted against, eight member-states abstained from voting. According to sources, the watered-down resolution also saw India pushing for new elements through written amendments calling for an independent and credible investigation into allegations of human rights violation and other accountability measures to be accepted by Sri Lanka.(thehindu)

Thorium as a Safe and Clear Energy Source


Thorium plays a pivotal role in Indian Nuclear power programme. Right from the inception of Indian nuclear power programme, work has been carried out on various aspects of thorium utilisation- including mining and extraction of thorium, fuel fabrication, irradiation in reactors, reprocessing and refabrication. Internationally too, certain new designs have been proposed to use Thorium. The third stage of Indian nuclear power programme contemplates making use of Uranium-233 (obtained from irradiated thorium) to fuel Uranium-233 – Thorium based reactors, which can provide energy independence to the country for several centuries. This will avoid the dependency on coal and natural gas.

UPSC Notification for Civil Services Prelims Exam (IAS) 2013

After much delay, Union Public Service Commission had published the Notification for the Civil Services Preliminary Exam, 2013. The Notification was earlier, scheduled to be out in the First week of feb, but it got delayed due to issues with finalizing the new Civil Service Main paters change and finally made public on 5th March, 2013. This year, Union Public Service Commission is going to conduct the Civil Services Preliminary Exam on 26th May, while the MAIN Examination is likely to be held by the year end i.e in October/November, 2013. The Online Registration had already started and the last Date for Submitting the Online Application is April 4th, 2013.

Latest change in UPSC Civil Service Mains - New Pattern

Union Public Service Commission in its latest notification released on 6th March 13, changed the Scheme of Civil Services MAINs (Written and Interview/Personality Test) Examination starting from 2013. The commission had also made some changes in the choice of language medium in the Civil Services (Main) Examination. Another change is, the candidates planning to apply for the Civil Services Examination or Indian Forest Service Examination or both will have to fill in this common Application Form.The main idea of Union Public Service Commission is to avoid the dependency of candidates on coaching centers to an extend. Please refer the notification for further clarifications.
