Mr. Pradeep Kumar elected as Central Vigilance Commissioner
Central Vigilance Commission was created on 1964 to address governmental corruption.It is an autonomous body and free of control from any executive authority.It is not an investigating agency,but monitor all vigilance activity under Central Government of India.Nittoor Srinivasa Rau, was the first Chief Vigilance Commissioner of  India.The appointment is made by the President of India and selection is done by a committee
of Prime Minister (Chairperson), Minister of Home Affairs and the leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha.The position of CVC was vacant after the Supreme Court quashed the appointment of P.J. Thomas as CVC as he was under a cloud for his alleged involvement in the nearly two decades-old edible oil import scam in Kerala. The Central Vigilance Commissioner or any Vigilance Commissioner shall be removed from his office only by order of the President on the ground of proved misbehavior or incapacity after the Supreme Court.

This law prohibits forcible abortions or any medical intervention that could result in a mentally disabled woman losing her fertility.We have a traditional practice of sterilizing mentally unsound women to avoid unwanted pregnancy as the chances of sexual exploitation of such women are higher.It covers a whole spectrum of disabilities ranging from physical disabilities to mental illness and multiple disabilities. It will replace the existing Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunity Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act of 1995.

WWF’s Adopt a Tree Campaign to start July 4 : The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) would kickstart its annual Adopt a Tree Campaign July 4 with active participation from various institutions, corporate houses, resident welfare associations and students.‘Adopt a Tree Campaign’ was initiated by WWF-India in the year 2005 with the mission of promoting plantation of native species.
